Birthday Inspiration

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Before you do anything, enter the
to win an awesome hat, custom made for your little one!

Where else would I go for birthday inspiration besides PINTEREST!

LOVE this banner by Avis and Iris over at their Etsy shop!
I had specific colors in mind for Clara's birthday party, so they made me a custom
banner (saying "happy birthday clara"). They're fantastic and I received my package
within a week!

DIY pinwheels! I love pinwheels for a spring birthday, hence why I'm including them!

Paper straws from Heliotrope! Love this store!
Such cute, creative items, and all very reasonably priced.
My package got to me within a week. Love that store!

I wanted something like this so badly for Clara's first birthday pictures. But I CANNOT
find a wooden high chair ANYWHERE!

I'm making Clara's cake myself, and although I don't think
I'll be able to make it NEARLY as cute as this one, it's my inspiration.

Please, please, please vote for us!

The CUTEST envelopes for wedding invites. :)
I've got wedding on the mind.

Such a wonderful idea! Take the top from a salt container
and add it to a jar for an easy pour! Love it!

A girl's emergency clutch! Such a great idea.
Cute tutorial and super easy. I need one in my bag.

Love the idea of mason jars as lighting
for an outdoor wedding.

Detailed step-by-step tutorial for re-covering a car seat.
I just finished this tutorial for Clara's new convertible

Blankets! Favorite Pins of the week.

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

I'm making a baby blanket for my friend Angie's little boy Leyton. I wanted to post some options so she could pick from them.

Don't forget that I'm taking custom orders for hats and blankets. Email me if you're interested.

This one is actually from Ravelry. I like the simple pattern.

[2]
I posted this one recently. It's a little girly, but I love it. I might make one for Clara.

[3]
I believe I posted this one before, too. I just love it. :)

[4]
Love it!

[5]
Very cute. A little granny-ish. But I still like it.

[6]
I think this one is my favorite.

Let me know what you think, Angie! And don't forget to vote for the blog!

So useful! 31 million ways to wrap presents! Check it out.

Such a cool idea to keep in my car when Clara gets a little older.

 [3]
Should I make these birds and turn them into
a mobile? I think yes.

Oh my goodness, I love the organization! I'm so totally going to do this.

I need these. I would have gone through over 100 just since August.

Explosion box! Would be so cool for Clara's first year.

Instead of making Clara a blanket of crocheted flowers, I
decided to do some tiles like this instead. Angie, what do you
think of something like this for Leyton?

Really awesome mobile/activity for little ones. :)

Would be pretty awesome for baby Leyton, I think.

Crochet newsboy cap similar what I made thanks to Amy C.
Thanks for submitting your idea, Amy!

Make sure you enter the giveaway and send me your ideas of what you'd like to see me crochet!

Favorite Pins of the Week/GIVEAWAY!

Great weekend in Holland! Clara got to see her Dad a lot. She is now sitting completely on her own! (YAY!) And loves having both hands to play with. Also, her third tooth pushed through on Saturday, and I can tell the fourth will be pushing through any day now.

[1]
Epsom salt as snow. I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I can't wait until Christmas!

[2]
LOVE finding things like this! But when I try to re-create it, I fail.

[3]
Sounds kinda gross, I know. But it works. Check it out!

[4]
Gloves with special fingertips so you can still use
your phone. I recently saw some at target.

[5]
Next crochet project.

Speaking of projects, I'm in the works of setting up an Etsy shop, and I need ideas! What kinds of hats/projects would you like to see me make!? If you send me a picture of what you think would be a cool project, I'll enter your name into a drawing and make your chosen project and send it to you! What do you think of that?

Bring on the challenges! Email me your ideas: frombean2baby@gmail.com

Also, if you would vote, it would make my day. :)

A mini-update: Clara had an ultrasound of her kidneys and bladder yesterday. We won't get the results for a few days yet. Clara did a SUPER job throughout all of it. Always smiley and well-behaved. Such a trooper.

We didn't do the whole trick-or-treating thing last night. Clara is too young. We passed out candy instead. Stay tuned for 7 month pictures and cute Halloween pictures both with products from Baby Fables.

Baby Fables is a wonderful Etsy store by owner/designer Christine Smith-Miller. Her store has handmade children's items, plenty of onesie stickers to choose from for both little boys and little girls, the cutest clothing dividers, iron on's, waterproof labels and so much more! Christine sent me a personalized iron-on transfer for Clara's first Halloween and it was fantastic. Thanks so much, Christine! If you're real nice, and leave lots of comments, Christine just might let me do a giveaway! So give up the love, people! Tell me what you think. You should head on over and check out her Etsy shop, and see the wonderful items she has in stock!

And now for my favorite pins of the week!

[1]
I have to remind myself of this often. I'm trying not to
focus on what I don't have in my life, because I have been
so blessed. I have so much in my life. I'm
making an effort to be grateful for every moment.

[2]
I can't even tell you how many "art projects" I made with this.

[3]
MORE little things. More life.

Grammar. Get it.

I would love if you would share your favorite pins with me!
I would also love a vote! Pretty please?!

Favorite Pins of the Week

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

A quick update, Clara had a doctor's appointment yesterday. They did tried to do a urine test. How do you get urine from a baby? They did a blood test. I had to hold her arm while the nurse had the needle in her arm, moving in and out and side to side, for 5 minutes! She didn't get any blood. Poor baby. She screamed at the top of her lungs the whole time.

So next, they tried her heel. That worked, but it took another 5 minutes to get all of the blood she needed. As soon as that was done, Clara did some hiccup breathing (you know the kind when you've been crying hysterically, and you can't breathe properly after? yeah. that kind.) and passed out on my shoulder almost immediately. The nurse suggested I have a glass of wine at home.

Her test results came back that she had a HIGH elevated white blood cell count, so they sent us downstairs to radiology for another chest x-ray. They said it showed that she had "bronchial distress" whatever that means, and she may have bronchitis, or pneumonia. We're going back for more tests at 3:30 today. It must have been stressful for her, seeing as she's been sleeping for 13 hours now.

Anywho, time for my favorite pins of the week!

[1]
I believe it! Clara's Dad and I are talking about reconciliation.
Nothing is in the works yet, but we are discussing it.

[2]
Salt dough ornaments for hand or footprints. I MUST do this with Clara every year!

[3]
I've been wanting to do a rainbow blanket for Clara, and I think that this is PERFECT!

[4]
SO awesome. I'm gonna do this.

Also, I would absolutely LOVE a vote. :)

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but I'm addicted to Pinterest. I LOVE to find new and ambitious projects to work on... and I'm doing alright so far. And by that I mean that I've done a few of them.

I love the inspiration. I kept seeing all of these beautiful crocheted things, and I kept asking myself why I didn't just buck up and learn how to crochet already. So, I found a video to teach me... via Pinterest, of course. And now I'm learning new patterns and stitches every day. In fact, I'm actually working on a pretty neat hat for myself at the moment. I'll post a picture when I'm finished (probably by tomorrow). Leave me a comment if you like it and I'll send you the pattern.

Anywho... off topic again, of course. You should join Pinterest. And follow me. And just to give you some inspiration to go and do just that, I posted five of my favorite pins this week.

I'm thinking of making this a weekly post, and I would appreciate some feedback if you agree.

I would also appreciate if you would VOTE for this blog on TopBabyBlogs.com. PLEASE!? Just click on the yellow banner at the bottom of the post, or the blue "click me" button to your left. Or, by clicking here. It would make Clara and I both very happy. :D

1. Spaghetti Squash

I'm on a Low/No Carb, no sugar diet (more on that later). This took care of my pasta fix.

2. Modern Quit
I've been wanting to start a quilt for Clara, using squares cut out of her outfits. So rather than save everything, I can just save a portion of it, and she can have it for years to come. Plus, then I don't have to hold onto everything. I had a hard time finding a pattern I liked, though. Put I LOVE this one. I think it would be fantastic!

3. Hair Tutorial
This site has all sorts of hair tutorials. See something you like? There's a step-by-step guide on teaching you how to do it. I did one, shown in this post, last week. Super easy. My hair has been short the last couple of years, and it's like I forgot what to do with long hair. These tutorials give me a refresher course, as well as new ways to be creative.

4. New Uses for Old Things
Like using Lemon Kool-Aid to clean your dishwasher. Or using dryer lint to make modeling dough. Or using a dish rack to organize crayons and coloring books. Or using a martini shaker as a glitter dispenser. Ok, I don't really agree with that last one. Use a salt shaker or something. No need to ruin a good martini shaker. But you get the point, right? Pinterest has all sorts of really easy fixes to save you money, make you more organized, and make fun project a snap to do with your kids. Check 'em out!

5. Motivation
I admit, I do not have the healthiest body image. I'm doing my best to change that. I'm sticking to my diet... I could use more of a workout, but I like motivational stuff like this to keep me on track. "Thinspo", if you will. Now, I would never let Clara see stuff like this. I'm not recommending that anyone else use this type of image either. But it helps me stay on track. Pinterest also has workouts that you can find, lifestyle changes, and funny stuff about losing weight. If you have the same motivation/inspiration style that I do, check out my inspiration board. It has pictures, words, workouts, outfits, funny stuff... everything I like to keep me motivated. Let me know what you think. Leave a comment!

Also, PLEASE vote by clicking the banner below. kthanksbye.
